Letter From the Director

"Music is a gift of God". It is one of the great expressions of our joy and sorrows, our love and hatred, our contentment and pain, our peace and conflict, and our thanks and praise to God. It can create a mood or quiet a spirit.

I remember spending many hours practicing the piano, growing up. Sometimes it was a calming influence in an otherwise stormy childhood. Sometimes it was a spiritual experience, as if God would take over and the song was playing itself while I simply listened and was ministered to. Sometimes it was an outlet of expression for me when I was happy, sad, or angry. But always, it was enjoyable. Even those early years when I was learning how to read music. Although I could play by ear, learning how to read music helped me to master the piano as well as made it easier to learn other instruments later.

Amaria Music is my way of sharing with and imparting to others, the love and enthusiasm for music that God has blessed me with, the theory and compositional training that the music community has given me, and the mastery produced by many hours of practice and years of playing.

History

Amaria Music officially opened in 2002 in the Hudson Valley area of NY, offering low-cost private piano lessons and music theory. Today, the studio also offers violin and guitar instruction, ear and performance training, music composition, and original arrangements. Scholarships are available for gifted students. Recitals are scheduled for 2005.
